August 2026 News

Welcome to the August 2026 news update for WARSURGE.

On the 15th of August we’ll be at Victorius 2026. It’s a convention at the Box Hill Town Hall (in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia). It is a Historical, Fantasy & Sci-Fi Tabletop Games Show where you’ll find us and other tabletop wargames. If you’re in the neighbourhood, feel free to drop in and have a demo game with us; you can receive a prize! Tickets are available at the door or online:

In the app department, we’ve had some breakthroughs; new Apple/iOS requirements have been met and there are a number of performance improvements planned for the next update for both Android and iOS. In addition, we are beginning to implement some basic code for playing War Factory, but this component may not be active yet by the time the update comes.

DakkaDakkaStore has postponed their collaborative Kickstarter with us until 2027. All backers have been refunded and our apologies to those who were keen for it. We'll let you know when it's scheduled to return. Despite reaching the funding goal, they didn't raise as much as they really wanted. I was informed it was related to marketing on their side and they wanted to try again in 2027. This has also postponed the ‘Casual Rules’ Battle Report we made using the miniatures from this Kickstarter, along with the Operation: Nightshade booklet. We shall record another game demonstrating the Casual Rules (using different models) at a later date.

War Factory is currently in development. There are a number of ways planned to build your base (if you want one) as well as collecting resources and unlocking your ‘Tech Tree’ (if desired). There will be differences between the free App and the paid one; details to be confirmed. For now, we have planned:

Base Options: You can have no base, a single Headquarters (HQ) or you can have an expandable base starting with a ‘Construction Centre’ expanding through multiple buildings with several ways to build it (such as opting to have worker Units).

Resources: There are several methods for players to build up their resources. Much of it will be tied to capturable ‘resource nodes’ on the Battlefield, but there are other ideas in consideration at this time too, such as recycling or salvaging slain Units. There will also be options for collection, such as simply capturing resource node locations or to have harvester units collect from them.

Tech Trees: You will be able to unlock Units, Perks, expand population caps among other things with your resources. Tech Trees may be tied to specific buildings or consolidated in one place depending on how you build your base (if you chose to have one).

There will also be instructions on how to implement War Factory into Campaigns (including Map Campaigns).

Stay tuned for more news!
