Welcome to the January 2026 news update for WARSURGE.
In the app department, we are working toward launching the next update. We recommend that you back up your data as we plan to launch within a week. The notes we have are:
- Added Perk Sub-Categories
- New Perks Added
- Perk Adjustments
The following are new Perks:
Flee (Ability): Can choose not to use Weapons to get away from a Melee.
Reserved (Deployment - I to IV): Must wait the number of required Game Turns to Deploy.
Concentrate (Offensive - I & II): Remaining stationary grants bonus Power to the Weapon.
Intensity (Offensive - I & II): Being within half range of the Weapon increases HP Loss.
Artificial Opponent (Roster): This is to be applied to Rosters that are controlled by an Artificial Opponent, where each Unit is assigned one of four tactics as per the Artificial Opponent (A.O) rules (which will be added to the website alongside the app update). It also makes the Roster cost 20% less.
The following are changes to existing Perks:
Ambush (Deployment): No longer need to wait until the second Game Turn to use this Perk. To recreate what it used to be, also use the ‘Reserved I’ Perk.
Fusion (Transformation): Now allows the option of lowering maximum HP to cost less to perform the Fusion.
Cone I & II: Size fix and also listing in mm.
Italian Update: Point Cost (Double Max) received a minor wording adjustment.
Perk Sub-Categories are dividing (or filtering) Perks by their function. For example, the Unit ‘Elemental’ family of perks will divide into three subcategories called ‘Protection’, ‘Type’ and ‘Weakness’. If you prefer the old method of browsing a sizable list of Perks from each family, that is an option that can be turned off or on in Settings.
We would like to have added Critical Hit III and IV along with a series of Perks called Sustained Hit (I to IV), but they need some detailed formula work before they’re ready. Sustained Hit is a Perk that generates additional Attack Dice when you roll a 6. The new ranks of Critical Hit are planned to further increase (or perhaps randomise at the last rank) the bonus HP Loss.
A tiny update was made to the ‘Mods’ download PDF on the website: Pretzels was added to the title of Beer and Chips Mode, making it ‘Beer and Chips/Pretzels Mode’. It’s not a big deal - some places prefer chips, others pretzels… so take your pick :)
There is no bounty for this month; instead our focus is getting the Artificial Opponent (A.O) rules ready which will work alongside the ‘Artificial Opponent’ Roster Perk. As for the future of bounties, we are going to launch a scoreboard for bounties after the A.O rules are finished. The goal of the bounty scoreboard is to complete bounties with less points than what is recommended in the bounty itself. More details will come later.
