June 2025 News

Welcome to the June 2025 news update for WARSURGE.

The Intermediate Battle Report is approaching completion. We’re hoping to have it up on YouTube in July, and we’ll share it on our social media when it’s ready. In the battle report’s overall story, there is a government corporation (known as the ‘Enforcers’) trying to purge unwanted mutants (the ‘Mush Mutants’) and seize valuable assets from a rundown sector of a city. The mutants want to defend their home and the precious few resources they have… while inflicting as much harm to the invasive autocratic puppets as possible.

After the Battle Report is complete, we’ll be investigating ideas for helping people introduce or ‘recruit’ new players to Warsurge. We’ve looked at ideas mentioned on Discord recently and appreciate the discussion that occurred there.

In the app department, development is still continuing into v1.9. This is planned to be combined with a significant gameplay update that will adjust a number of Perks and introduce new ones to the game.

Terracon (a wargaming tournament) went well earlier in June. I admit that I had my doubts whether there’d be much traffic for our stall at a tournament of this kind, but there were quite a number of players who had a demo game of Warsurge with us. It was also great seeing players with a variety of armies duking it out on the tabletop throughout the tournament, some of which were very creative from a hobby perspective. Though the venue (a big shed) was very cold and it rained a lot, at least the battles (and portable heaters and firepits) were warm.

Once the Intermediate Battle Report is done, we’ll be looking at some new Mods, one in particular that can offer an alternative for certain combinations of Weapon Perks in the Attack Sequence. For example, it will give the ability to apply Volatile or Precision to Accuracy (or Aim) instead of Attack Dice. Details will follow after we’ve had a chance to draft the Mod. If it is very well received and acceptable for point calculation, we may incorporate these ideas directly into Perks instead of having them in a Mod.

This month’s Bounty is the Cult of Deeab’low. Investigation of recent kidnappings has revealed a cult operating in the slums, seeking to improve their bleak and miserable lives. They are summoning an ancient demon to be their saviour. End their madness.

We are planning a sign-up page for the historical Compendium on Kickstarter. In addition to many preset profiles, we are looking at adding a number of new Perks and gameplay content to go with it. When we have more details and the sign-up page established, we’ll share it in the news.
