Welcome to the May 2025 news update for WARSURGE.
Our books will soon be available to hobby businesses via Let’s Play Games. With greater awareness of the Warsurge system, there will be more opponents for you to engage with on the tabletop!
In the app department, development is steadily continuing into v1.9. We plan to combine this with a gameplay update that will tweak a number of Perks and introduce some new ones to the game.
On the 6th of June, we will be at Terracon 2025 located at the Naracoorte Showgrounds, 171 Smith St, Naracoorte SA 5271 (Australia). It is a tournament focusing on battles with Warhammer 40k and army paint/theme judging. If you’re in the region, why not come say hi and play some Warsurge with us. There’ll be a prize for those who can defeat the plague daemon, and we’ll be donating a prize to Terracon as well. You can check out the event’s Facebook group here if you’re interested:
This month’s Bounty is Lunch Lady Laura, who snapped when she found an obese boy gorging in a food locker. She blended then served him… and others since. She is rumoured to use a hose to force feed her victims at a distance with raw, minced human flesh.
We have some new ‘Night Combat’ rules to try out, which can also be used instead of Extreme Light / Dark in the Campaign Mods from the Rulebook. These will also be on our Discord, Facebook Group and Reddit:
When Night Combat is agreed between players, roll a D3. On a 1, it is dark on Game Turns 1 and 2. On a 2, it is dark the entire game. If a 3, it is dark from Game Turn 3 and onwards.
Units are affected by Night Combat in the following ways:
1. Difficult to See (Dice Modifiers for 12"+): When attacking a Unit that has all of its models 12" or more away, apply a -1 Dice Modifier to Attack Dice. This increases by -1 for each 12". For example, if the attacking Unit chooses to Target a Unit with all of its models at least 36" away, it will suffer a -3 Dice Modifier to all Weapons’ Attack Dice.
2. Wrong Target (engaging a Melee): When a Unit is about to engage an enemy in a Melee, the player being Targeted may attempt to switch it with a nearby friendly Unit. The Targeted player rolls a D6; on a 4+ the player may switch the Unit with another one within 12". A player may only attempt this once per Unit per Movement (into Melee), and cannot do so if already engaged in a Melee.
