May 2026 News

Welcome to the May 2026 news update for WARSURGE.

In the app department, we are working on releasing a small update that introduces an unused Armoury purge feature, which can be found in Settings. In addition, we have put all backup options into a single tab with sub-tabs. This small update is also essential as there are new app store requirements from Google requiring us to make tweaks. After that, we are working on improving the performance of the app; several users have reported a memory leak issue. We also want to introduce War Factory either alongside or soon after that fix.

Note that there may be a version number difference between Android and iOS users for a while. This is not a problem as all the unit and weapon costs will be identical and no perk differences. It’s just a temporary situation while we sort out new app store requirements.

The collaboration with DakkaDakka.Store is being worked on, which will introduce a miniature line in official collaboration with us at Warsurge and a game/mission book. The project is built around two full skirmish factions:

-New Yard Constabulary-

When a world-ending calamity strikes, it is the Chronstables who forge the new continuity.

They utilise both ancient technology lost to time and cutting-edge science of the far future. Every cell is led by a Chrontendent; their horologes allow them to briefly travel back in time to warn the predecessors and share knowledge. In turn, agents of yesterday leave messages in hidden caches to be discovered in the coming years. Together, investigators trace a disaster's roots and send enforcers to nip the threat in the bud while trying to preserve as much of the original timeline as possible.

-Createra Genetics-

With no more waking hours left to sell, the working class started selling their afterlives, too. Nightshade Inc. took advantage of this wonderful opportunity, and the first undead security/military solutions hit the market. Corpses implanted with reanimator modules and armed to the teeth proved to be reliable, undemanding workers. These modules utilised the processing power of the brain to execute complex commands while maintaining total control. There was no shortage of people willing to sign their vacant bodies away, trading them for a marginally better life.

Soon after, the company patented its KRISPR technology and set its division ‘Createra Genetics’ to work, which allowed them to edit the genes of those who failed to read the fine print. The next-gen guards sported bone-blades, steel cords for muscles and eyes capable of infrared vision - an even hotter commodity.

Naturally, detractors have voiced some concerns over the years. Are the previous owners still trapped in their awakened bodies? Is the units' true allegiance still with their creators, giving them eyes and ears in every military facility? The internal investigation launched by Nightshade Inc. discovered no such vulnerabilities…

War Factory is next after the DakkaDakka.Store collaboration, which will bring a new way to play Warsurge on the tabletop, adding a ‘RTS’ (real-time strategy) flavour. There will be enough content to almost feel like its own game, so personally I’m looking forward to adding this ‘expansion’ to the Warsurge system.

Stay tuned for more news!
