Welcome to the September 2025 news update for WARSURGE.

This month we have launched ‘Beta Rules’ and many new Mods. You can find them in the Mods and Free Rules sections of the website, which have been updated. Note that some Mods have made their way to Beta Rules; download and give them a try then let us know what you think of them!

Some of the new mods include:

High Ground - Bonus Power for being above a Target and reduced Power for attacking from below a Target.

Transport: Crash and Burn – Destroyed transports cause damage to passengers, but allow passengers to attack (even without Fire Points) if they haven’t done so yet.

Spellcaster – Turns any Mastery and Skill Tests into spells, becoming an Aether Test.

Casual Mode – Restrictions and guidelines for having a ‘beer and chips’ style game.

Tiebreaker & Sudden Death – Tiebreaker is what Sudden Death used to be, while the new Sudden Death involves a duel between Units.

Some samples from the Beta Rules:

Transport Casualty Rules – Destroyed Transports do not protect passengers, even if they aren’t removed from the table.

Scaled Minimum Unit Cost – Once a Mod, the minimum cost for Units is 5% of the Roster or 50pts (whichever is lower).

Overwatch: Guard – Instead of attacking, Units can use Overwatch to protect themselves with Guard.

Heavy Cover – Units that are 90% blocked can double their Cover’s Defence bonus.

Attack Dice Charts and Formulas – Updated Attack Dice Charts and new optional Attack Dice Formulas.

The v1.9 update for the WARSURGE App is being worked on before v2 due to new coding regulations from Google, but unfortunately it has hit some delays due to Apple’s latest upload requirements. On the upside, the urgency from Google for the update is not as intense as we were able to get an extension. Once we have jumped through these hurdles, we will be able to get the update into your hands. Being a transition toward v2 of the App, we do expect a few minor issues to appear which we would like feedback about. Thank you for your continued patience.

Last month we mentioned about a WARSURGE Ambassador system, where people can sign up and be rewarded for posting on social media (specifically Reddit at this time). Once the WARSURGE v1.9 app update is live and settled, we plan to launch this program. To briefly recap, the goal of the Ambassador system is to encourage players to share their Warsurge battles and hobby content on Reddit. The Ambassador Reward shop will have a variety of goods you can purchase such as Lifetime App vouchers, Digital Rulebooks, official STLs and some items belonging to affiliates, along with exclusive rewards (and we’re also looking at shop e-vouchers!).

This month’s Bounty is a Weeping Rusalka. Reports of a woman’s loud crying and missing men revealed a dangerous rusalka. Rumours suggest the maiden was betrayed and drowned by her lover. Now cursed, she is compelled to drown anyone that comes too close to her.
